Palangkaraya Masterplan Competition

The Urban Theatre of Palangkaraya offers a concept of modern urban planning whilst also accentuate sacredness of the city which was the candidate of new capital city of Indonesia in the 1950s. The shape of amphitheatre outlining the downtown area of the city, controlling the density in the inner downtown, gradually increasing towards outer downtown, this would create a humane city centre with human scale buildings in the heart of the city, where government buildings and commercials located. Riverbanks design with organic plaza and attraction, with the Statue of Soekarno, overlooking to the modern cityscape which the first president dreamt of when he set foot for the first time in Palangkaraya.
